Conclusion

1)The park is important to for the residents as they need space for recreational purposes. Some residents like to use the park to enjoy activities with their friends or family. Others may use it for their own purposes such as to jog, practice and research. The park is a good place for people to relax and forget about their troubles for a while. It is also a bonding area for families and friends during the weekdays and the weekends.

2)We should appreciate biodiversity and protect the natural enviroment as we live in it and if we do not take care of it ourself,we won`t have a nice place to live in and may cause harm to ourself. We must take care of our surrounding as if we pollute our air, we cause harm to our body when we breathe in polluted air.

3)If we do not appreciate biodiversity and protect the natural enviroment,it will affect our ecosystem and if an organism extinct, the rest of the organisms will be affected by it. Also, the polluted air can cause people to have breathing problems and have asthma attacks.

4)Park visitors can help to protect the enviroment by clearing their rubbish and throwing it into the bin and not pluck the leaves or flowers just because we like it as we will be destroying it and not allow others to enjoy the beauty of the plants.

2. Impact (Pollution)

People leaving the newspaper at the bench. Water bottles also can be found near and at the back of the bench. These are many examples of people littering at the park. There are also many litters thrown into the river. Numerous leaves and litter are gathered at the water edge which now makes the water dirty and not as clean as before.

People eating food and littering on the grass even though there is a rubbish bin.

3. Conservation efforts done by park officials

The impact of man is indeed great. If many people litter, Jurong Lake Park will not be clean and green for us to enjoy. It will also leave a bad impression on tourists when they come to Singapore. The park officers maintain the park clean and green for us to enjoy. They put up signs as gentle reminders for people who litter. They also hire people to sweep the litter and leaves and clean up the park. These are examples of the conservation efforts done by them:
There are many signs to remind people not to litter at the park. Also many rubbish bins are located at various lamp posts so that it is more convenient to people at the park.

There are people hired by the park officers to gather the leaves and branches into one spot and sweep them into a garbage bag to dispose later. As leaves and branches may fall from the trees, it is helpful for people to sweep them up so that the drains will not be clogged up.
